Terms of Service

Last updated: September 27, 2026

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of AUTO411 and 411specs.com, including the website, vehicle-data services, Chrome extension, API access, Model Context Protocol (MCP) and AI-agent access, ChatGPT integrations, subscriptions, and supported machine-payment services. By accessing or using a service, you agree to these Terms.

1. AUTO411 services

AUTO411 provides identity-first vehicle intelligence. Depending on the service and available evidence, it may resolve a vehicle from a VIN or year, make and model and return normalized vehicle identity, specifications, wheel and tire fitment, safety information, efficiency information, or other supported facts.

Coverage varies by vehicle, configuration, model year, market, source, and data category. A result such as MATCHED_SINGLE means one supported identity was resolved from the available evidence. NEEDS_IDENTITY means more information is required. NO_MATCH, unavailable, withheld, or similar states mean AUTO411 did not find enough publishable evidence for that request.

2. Vehicle information and verification

AUTO411 combines information derived from public agencies, commercially licensed providers, and other permitted sources. Source data may contain omissions, errors, delays, model-year differences, regional differences, or conflicting descriptions. AUTO411 normalizes and filters results but does not guarantee universal coverage or error-free data.

Vehicle specifications and fitment can be safety-critical. Before purchasing parts, installing wheels or tires, servicing a vehicle, or relying on a specification, verify the result against the vehicle label, owner or service documentation, manufacturer information, physical measurements, and a qualified automotive professional.

AUTO411 is an informational service. It is not a substitute for professional mechanical, engineering, legal, insurance, recall-remedy, or safety advice. Safety and recall information may be scoped to year, make and model rather than a specific VIN or configuration.

3. Accounts, API keys, and OAuth

Some services require an account, subscription, API key, bearer credential, or OAuth authorization. You are responsible for information submitted through your account and for keeping credentials confidential. Do not share, publish, resell, or embed credentials where unauthorized users can obtain them. Notify simon@411specs.com if you believe a credential or account has been compromised.

You may not bypass authentication, entitlement checks, rate limits, source-policy controls, or other technical restrictions. AUTO411 may revoke a credential or suspend access when reasonably necessary to address abuse, nonpayment, security risk, legal obligations, or a material breach of these Terms.

4. AI-agent and ChatGPT use

When you connect AUTO411 to ChatGPT or another AI agent, that provider may send vehicle inputs to AUTO411 and may process AUTO411 results under its own terms and privacy practices. AI-generated summaries can misstate or omit returned facts. Review the structured AUTO411 result and verify safety-critical information before acting.

AUTO411 tools are read-only lookup tools unless a service expressly says otherwise. They do not purchase parts, book service, establish vehicle ownership, provide accident history or valuation, or complete transactions on your behalf.

5. Acceptable use

You may use AUTO411 for lawful individual vehicle lookups and supported integrations. You must not:

6. Intellectual property and data rights

AUTO411 software, interfaces, documentation, branding, normalization logic, and service presentation are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Vehicle facts may originate from public or licensed sources and remain subject to the rights and restrictions applicable to those sources.

Your access authorizes supported lookup use; it does not transfer ownership of AUTO411 systems or grant a right to raw source files, bulk access, database resale, redistribution, or reconstruction of licensed datasets.

7. Subscriptions and other payments

Paid plans, prices, billing intervals, and included access are shown at checkout or in the applicable service. Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. You authorize the charges presented at checkout. Instructions for managing or cancelling a subscription are available through the applicable account flow or AUTO411 Support. Refunds or credits, if any, are governed by the checkout terms and applicable law; these Terms do not create a separate refund promise.

Some machine-facing resources may present an HTTP 402 payment requirement and accept supported x402 payments. The price, network, asset, and recipient shown in that payment requirement govern the individual request. Blockchain transactions are public and, once settled, may not be reversible. Never provide AUTO411 with a wallet seed phrase or private key.

8. Third-party services

AUTO411 relies on third-party hosting, authentication, payment, AI, network, and data services. Their services are governed by their own terms. AUTO411 is not responsible for an outage, change, or error caused by a third-party service, but will use reasonable efforts to preserve explicit unavailable or retryable states rather than fabricate a result.

9. Availability and changes

Services may be changed, limited, interrupted, or discontinued. AUTO411 does not promise uninterrupted access, a particular response time, continued availability of every field or source, or compatibility with every vehicle and client. Maintenance, security events, upstream outages, legal restrictions, and source changes may affect results.

10. Disclaimers

To the extent permitted by law, AUTO411 is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, completeness, or accuracy. Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or right that applicable law does not permit AUTO411 to exclude.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, AUTO411 will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, lost profits, lost data, business interruption, or losses arising from reliance on unverified vehicle information. AUTO411’s aggregate liability for a claim will not exceed the amount you paid AUTO411 for the affected service during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. This limitation does not apply where applicable law prohibits it.

12. Termination

You may stop using AUTO411 at any time. AUTO411 may suspend or terminate access for a material breach, credential abuse, unlawful use, nonpayment, threats to service security or availability, or when required by law. Provisions concerning payments already incurred, intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, and restrictions on data use survive termination where applicable.

13. Changes to these Terms

AUTO411 may update these Terms as services or legal requirements change. The updated date will appear at the top of this page. Continued use after an update takes effect constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law.

14. Applicable law and contact

These Terms are governed by applicable law. Nothing in them limits mandatory rights that apply to you. Questions about these Terms may be sent to simon@411specs.com.
